Now that is what i call production value… not too fussed about the music apart from a nice techy breakdown at some point but im pretty sure not every stage would be playing dutch house. The Nam Jam Collective
So after some previous technical posts i thought i would update on the current process of bringing electronica (our own personal taste that is) to Hanoi.
Basically it’s gone really well, got some equipment brought over from Canada and myself, Ciaran and a new recruit to Hanoi Backpackers Hostel Andy (Frisbee as he is known) have set up a DJ collective. Within a week we had a gig and have been blasting Hanoi with various forms of disco, house, techno and disgustingly naughty electro and breaks. Smashing.
After Ciaran and Fris played in impromtu set at a new bar last night our collective (the nam jam collective) have been asked to DJ twice weekly and we will be discussing money tonight. Not only is this going to be a nice little earner keeping our pockets lined it also means we get to keep up with the music we love and get to play it out even more. Hanoi’s electronica scene is blossoming with DJ’s from all over playing a wide range of stuff, Dubstep seems to be happening here at the moment. However i am of the mind that if its fat and ‘avin it we are playing it so anyone about in the area come check us out.
Any artists wanting to get their stuff heard somewhere a bit exotic please feel free to chuck me some tracks - interested in anything you have to offer.
Aside from that im still doing tours, its typhoon season here at the minute though and the island and halong bay is getting smashed about a bit. I had my first ever cold tour the past three days and it was a bit of a nightmare, my only jumper got nabbed by a ninja on the wharf as i met my group so i had to layer up and create a saree to retain heat.
Tomorrow will consist of buying extremely warm woolly clothing, waterproofs and sending some presents back home (my lovely little cousin Eve recently turned 18 and became not so little any more!) will hopefully get the postcards iv had written for ages sent off too.
So that’s about it really, things are really coming along well and me and the lads should be playing in alsorts of clubs in and around Hanoi soon. Il try and record some mixes and stick them up on soundcloud so you can hear our stuff. Anyone got any cheeky tune recomendations please send them my way too!

These gentlemen should need no introduction. After being at the top of the 90’s Trance movement and creating some of the most seminal works of that time, Union Jack are back in action. After a couple of LIVE gigs in 2010, they are back with a new reworked show, ready to kick off their 2011 tour. Strange Daze are proud to play host to Simon Berry and Paul Brogden as they unlease a combination of past classics and future stormers. As if that wasn’t enough, they’ll be playing to custom created visuals of their music videos, over as many screens as we can get our hands on!!

For our 96th Strange Daze, Simon Berry will be joining us to DJ some of the Art Of Trance classics that helped shape the early trance scene and influence what became known as the infamous Platipus sound.
